Summer Solstice

We are enjoying the Summer Solstice today. We will have a big bonfire tonight as well. We recently put up a family inspiration wire, which is a really cool idea. The kids can hang up whatever they want and whatever inspires them. My dad bought Jacob a hot glue gun and he loves it. They have been making good use of our big box of craft sticks.

We came home yesterday to catch Jenna red pawed with a stolen jar of peanut butter. No wonder her coat is so glossy.

We have also decided to get the hell out of here finally. Our chosen place is Portland, Oregon. I think I might like Eugene better, but there aren't that many jobs, so that move can come later if we want it to. The more I read about Portland, the more I love it. One thing I read that was cool is that they count farmers markets the way the rest of the country counts Taco Bells and Safeways. They have tons of breweries, wineries, art and culture. I'm sure they have homeschool groups that are open to everyone too. Yes, I hate this place and it's people. No, I will not be missing it one bit. I can't wait to be happy again. What a gigantic mistake to move here. I was a dummy. It has been an awful three years. But there is light at the end of the tunnel, really. I can't wait to support things I believe in. I also can't wait to be nearer to the coast too. Portland might not be the perfect place, but it will be tons better than this. Now, to make it happen...

New Swords

Mike and the boys made new swords today. Jacob designed his own. Scotty's was designed by Mike. Cody's is coming soon.

We went camping in Jerome/Twin Falls with some friends. We saw a big waterfall. Shoshone Falls. I will post pictures soon.

FIVE!

These are some pictures of Cody's 5th birthday. He asked for chicken legs, pasta salad, cucumbers, mango and orange juice with limes for his special dinner. His shark cake was a disaster. He loved it, so that is good, but it seriously looked like a weird sea turtle serpent blob. The walking blocks that Jacob made him were cool, but so far I seem to be the only one who can walk very far with them. So Jacob has this monster hand from a Halloween costume and he put it on his sword today and asked me to tie all the fingers down except one with string. I was busy getting ready for dinner and such, so I didn't pay much attention to which finger I was leaving up. As you can see from the picture, I probably didn't make the best choice. Mike pointed it out when he got home and I couldn't believe it. It was funny. The kids have no clue so it doesn't really matter that he's flipping the bird in the picture. The picture of Cody with the basket is him hoarding all his gifts after everything was over.

For our special memorial day dinner we ate what we were told to. My dad said to serve ribs, corn on the cob, grapes and Hawaiian punch, because the boys like all of those things. Mike cooked some in the oven and some on the bbq, and Cody said the ones from the bbq were as tough as tires. I took Jacob's stitches out and he didn't take it as well as I thought he would. There was much crying. Cody is growing his hair out and modeled for these pictures. He said he wants it really long, which means we will see how far I can go until I can't stand it and cut it off. The weather was weird, it rained for most of the day, but we went walking on the greenbelt anyway, and the sun came out for the evening. It was actually kind of neat. We were talking about rocky mountain oysters, and I told the boys what they actually were. Mike said he would try them, and Cody says, "Yuck, would you want to eat my testicles?!"

Jacob the Photographer

Jacob took my camera this morning and decided to go out and document some of the world. Some of his pictures are quite good. Some are funny. I don't know what made him do this, but I thought it was pretty cool. I'm glad my camera made it back o.k too. I might have him do this all the time. Here are a few of my favorites.
